Personal
Cayten is a solid line-drive hitter who hits to all fields with an exit velocity ranging in the low 90s (mph). He is a patient hitter who led his team in bases on balls last season. He was his team’s starting second baseman but has also played the other infield positions and is effective at them all. The velocity on his throws across the diamond ranges in the low 80s (mph).
Adding to his versatility, he also served as a relief pitcher, with good results. His fastball ranges in the high 70s, his changeup in the high 60s and his knuckle-curve in the low 60s. He is a strike-thrower who averaged nearly a strikeout per inning during his college career and had a low walk rate. He moves the ball around and mixes his pitches well to keep hitters off balance.
In addition, Cayten has several years of coaching experience at the youth level that he can bring to a club.
He is a vocal leader who “also knows how to keep the guys loose and having fun. I love getting in extra reps with my teammates. I easily fit in with any crowd and enjoy meeting and learning from new people.”
