NCAA DI Utility Infielder with Single-Season Home Run Record Available Summer 2021
Name: Caitlyn Nolan
DOB: February 10, 1997
Date Available: July 1, 2021
Positions (alt): 1B, 2B, 3B
College: Virginia Tech University
Caitlyn is a gap-to-gap power hitter, with exit velocities consistently in the mid-to-high 70s (mph).
She has good foot speed, having run from home plate to first base in 3.2 seconds.
Defensively, Caitlyn mostly played shortstop during her college career, though she saw some action at second base. She throws in the low to mid-70s (mph) overhand.
She describes herself as “a very quick learner and [one who is] willing to learn any position that is needed . . . a quiet, lead-by-example type of teammate – not loud or emotional but extremely competitive . . . [One who] loves to discuss softball knowledge and [is] always open to giving or receiving feedback from teammates.”
Virginia Tech head coach Pete D’amour says, “[Caitlyn] is one of the best defensive shortstops I’ve coached. She has plus hands, footwork and arm. She has a good first step and anticipates reads off the bat well. Offensively, she obviously has plus power and a good eye, [and] she doesn’t strike out much for a power hitter. She was a great teammate and one of our hardest workers. Any team would be wise to add Caitlyn to its roster.”

After graduation, Caitlyn served as a student assistant coach at Virginia Tech, and she is currently the head coach of a 14-and-under travel team. She has extensive knowledge of infield and hitting skills, as well as experience with new hitting technologies such as Hittrax, K-vest, and Blast Motion sensor. “I am not a loud or overpowering coach. I believe that a coach should meet his/her players where they are and help them build themselves.”
“I still have a lot to give to this sport on the playing side. I want to see how far I can take my playing career, and I want to compete at a high level.”
Staying in Shape
Caitlyn hired her college strength and conditioning coach to create an individualized strength and conditioning program, which she has been on since December 2020. She currently practices six days a week at Virginia Tech’s indoor facility, which has many tools to track her progress.
