B.J. can throw both sidearm and over the top, which enables him to confuse batters. He can throw his curve ball in any count and helps account for his high strikeout totals.
The velocities on his pitches (in mph) are: sidearm fastball (mid to high 80s), over-the-top fastball (high 80s to low 90s), sidearm slider (mid to high 70s), sidearm changeup (high 70s to low 80s) and over-the-top curve ball (mid to high 70s).
He was primarily a relief pitcher in college, but he has also started and was an outstanding outfielder as a high-school player, so he brings versatility to any team he plays for. He batted over .500 as a high-school junior and senior. Defensively, he has a strong arm, good speed and good instincts.
B.J. is a very hard worker – always looking for ways to improve – and a very supportive teammate.
He would also bring coaching experience to a team, having served as a pitching instructor for youth teams and head coach of fall league team for high school-level players.
David Bahr, head coach at Lake Country Lutheran High School, says, “B.J. is an outstanding baseball player and a tremendous athlete. He is an even better person and teammate. He has had success at every level at which he has competed and this is a result of his talent, his personality, and his work ethic. B.J. will be the first player to the field and the last to leave. He is dedicated to his craft and understands that baseball is a game of lifetime learning and adapting to the competition at hand.”

B.J. says, “Taking my career overseas would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It would further my baseball career and give me the opportunity to create lifelong memories with new international teammates/friends. Playing overseas would also enable me to see how other countries play baseball, as well as give me the chance to travel and see what the world is like outside of the United States.”
