Having played with Ben Runyon in the summer of 2013, I can speak firsthand of his abilities. Ben is a tall and strong right-handed pitcher who can be used as a starter or a reliever. He has a good fastball which is in the upper 80’s and low 90’s, and mixes in a changeup and curveball as his off-speed pitches. Ben grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada but attended college in America so he could pursue a baseball career. Ben attended Johnson County Community College for a few years before transferring to NCAA Division II Lander University.
After graduating from Lander with a degree in exercise science, Ben signed a contract with the Las Vegas Trainrobbers in the Pecos League. Despite the Pecos League being an offensive-friendly league, Ben was very successful as the team’s closer. He held a 1.8 ERA through 25 innings and had 9 saves. Since then, Ben has signed professional contracts in numerous independent leagues throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Ben is now looking to take his baseball career overseas and get a chance to travel the world. He has experienced professional independent baseball at multiple levels but now wants to take advantage of this opportunity to play overseas. He is looking for a team for the 2021 season that can offer flights, accommodations, and a salary to cover living expenses.
