Personal
After being named Regional Utility Player in high school, Aurelia was recruited to college as a utility player. In college, Aurelia stepped up and filled the catching role for her team while being one of the strongest hitters in the lineup. She also played second base and third base during her high school career, so she could slot in at those positions, as well.
She is a strong defensive catcher, with a pop time as low as 1.8 seconds. At the plate, she often hit in the fourth or fifth spot in the lineup. She is very disciplined and skilled at waiting for good pitches to hit. “I pride myself in my hitting mechanics and pitch selection,” she says. “I don’t mind getting late in the count. I sit back and wait for the right pitch, and if it doesn’t come, I trust my ability to make contact. I often hit in pressure situations and do well in 0-2 counts because I don’t chase often.”
Aurelia is very energetic and positive presence in the clubhouse, on the practice field, and in games. “I am a leader that leads more by encouragement,” she says. She is a very hard worker, adding that she likes “working out and hitting on my own time as well as focusing on recovery and nutrition. I am no stranger to hard work and discipline. In college, my team did 9 weeks straight of daily 4 am workouts, as well as afternoon workouts. I love being challenged and will always push my teammates to do their best.”
She continues to train in the off-season to stay in top shape and keep her skills sharp. “I am hitting, as well as doing hybrid training with a focus on mobility and mechanics,” she says.
Aurelia would also like to assist a club’s coaching staff. She has several years of experience as a youth camp instructor through her college, as well as a community service volunteer coach.
