Personal

My name is Anthony Buonaiuto I am 27 years old and I have been playing baseball for 20 years of my life never missing a summer. I have competed and excelled in several tiers of amateur baseball  (Travel Ball, Provincial teams, Canadian national junior team, Division 1 Juco, Ontario colleges (OCCA 3x Allstar) led the league in division 2 German Bundesliga batting. Most recently playing in Italy and the Netherlands showing great success.

Baseball has moulded me in to the person i am today through hard work, teamwork, pressure situations, and dedication. I have received exceptional coaching and support from family friends and teammates throughout my baseball career. I have been given the knowledge and skills required to give back to the sport. I enjoy working with youth and teaching them baseball fundamentals, and passing on the joy of the game.

I spent 2 summers ago in Germany playing for the Bad Homburg Hornets in the German Bundesliga 2 and had a great experience on and off the field. I was never homesick and was always looking forward to see what the next day was going to bring me. I worked very hard last season and it payed off with a great season. I have gained a lot of experience and am looking forward to working harder with the next team that brings me on board.

Abilities summary: Fastball/Changeup/Curveball/2 Seam FB  Speedy outfielder with power to all fields, smooth left handed swing, fast hands, with good plate vision, hits for average and power. Explosive runner that has the ability to steal bases and stretch extra bases.

“Anthony is the consummate pro, he’s one of those guys that goes all out for seven innings, no questions asked. He was a leader by example for us all season, a coaches dream from my point of view. You never heard Anthony chirping, he’s always focused on the task at hand and his actions spoke louder than words. Looking forward to next season, he’s the type of guy we need to be a pillar of this program.

Ability-wise, he is a five-tool player who makes Kevin Pillar-like catches, his throws are on-line with carry, he steals bases, hits the ball to all fields with gap power (he led the league in triples).  He is in excellent athletic condition, agile and fleet.

I'd be remiss not to add that my assessment of Tony has credibility beyond me just being George Brown College's head coach.  I have worked full-time in the baseball industry for 30 years now, ten of which I was a full-time Supervisor with the Major League Baseball Central Scouting Bureau.  I also scouted for the Blue Jays.  I've coached our national team, I was the GM of the Cannons, I have taught baseball in 22 countries, and I was the Commissioner for baseball at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Summer Games.   Needless to say, I do not take giving player recommendations lightly.”

Anthony is the heart and soul of our team. He is the consummate professional. He hit 397 this past season, lead the league in hits and was the best CF in the league. He was awarded with yet another All Star team nomination. Anthony has a good arm, plus range and a plus bat. I called him a swiss army knife in the fact he did everything well. He could be relied on in almost any situation.

Anthony's character speaks for itself. He consistently mentored young players, was a fantastic ambassador for the program and volunteered for public appearances on multiple occasions. With a younger roster, he was a coaches dream. He truly lead on and off the field on a consistent basis. Anthony was also respectful of coaches, staff and field crew. More often than not I received compliments on what a gentlemen he was.
