AJ finished his college career playing in the National Club Baseball Association for a team that he started up (now a top ranked team in NCBA D1) of which he is the Vice-President. He decided to leave his college team to focus on his club team in 2015. AJ is also coaching a U17 travel team in Chico during the 2017 summer. A shortstop by trade, AJ was a starting catcher his senior year of high school. As he was one of 6 six catchers for the D2 Chico State team, he decided to shift his focus to SS and 3B while he co-founded and helped run the NCBA Club team. The club team had found its way to become ranked 9th in the nation for NCBA D2 where AJ put up a 2016 slashline of .340/.420/.560. The club team’s successes from that season led them to advance to NCBA D1. AJ describes his abilities running a 6.75-60 yard dash and having a pop time of 2 seconds. AJ’s first experience overseas came with Vic Park of the Western Australia State league in the winter of 2017-2018. Primarily playing third base, AJ finished the season in the top rankings for fielding percentage, batting average and stolen bases. During this season he was also the head coach of the 17u development team for Vic Park. He continued on to play for one of the top teams in the Czech Extraliga, Arrows Ostrava in 2018. AJ returned home for the 2018-2019 winter to work and has been working out every week with players and has been a hitting/speed & agility instructor for an academy as well. During this period he has been offered multiple positions with other professional clubs in the US.

Brad Lachemann

Head Coach, Arroyo Grande High School

AJ's playing career holds a special place in my memory because of his unique experience at Arroyo Grande High School. He had a very average tryout his junior year and we were loaded at his position so I cut him after tryouts. He was very upset and we spoke on a few occasions where he explained to me that baseball was the most important thing in his life. I knew he was passionate but we had no room on the roster for him and so I assumed that we would not see him again like many others we have cut in the past. Instead of laying down and giving up baseball he dove headlong into training and improving himself as a player and also into learning a new position. He knew we hadreturningg infielders but that the catching position would be vacated. Over the offseason he made himself into a very good catcher and not only made our team as a senior but became the starting catcher. His skills improved thru hard work and by the end of the season he was named to the PAC 8 all league first team and also all-San Luis Obispo County team. I have never before or since coached a player with such determination and love for baseball.
