Aaron Thor is a former standout shortstop and power hitter for Aurora University (NCAA III) who is looking to revive his playing career as a player-coach overseas.
During his career at Aurora Thor hit .379 overall, had 221 hits, 21 home runs, 60 doubles, 164 RBIs, stole 33 bases, in 165 games. In hit senior season he hit a whopping .426, with 10 home runs, 58 RBIs, 18 stolen bases, 61 runs scored, a .710 slugging percentage, and a .530 on-base percentage. His performance earned him numerous accolades including ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III First-Team All-American recognition. In his senior season he set the Aurora single game record for doubles with 4 and also holds the career record for doubles at Aurora with 60.
Just over a decade away from playing, a recent stint coaching youth gave Aaron the hunger to make a comeback as a player-coach overseas. At only 35 years of age, Aaron still has a lot left in the tank along with the maturity, professionalism and baseball IQ to coach at a high level. He has also been umpiring for the past 12 years which has kept his baseball IQ sharp and also allows him to help clubs overseas in that respect as well.
Message from Aaron to prospective clubs:
“Baseball is a talent I have been blessed with. I think the best way to teach is to demonstrate. I would love a player coach role to give back to the game that has been so great to me.”

“As the president of the largest baseball umpire association in Illinois, Fox Valley Blues Umpire Association, I am writing this letter as a recommendation for Aaron Thor for any future baseball player/coach positions that are available.
Mr. Thor has a great baseball IQ which serves him very well in the world of umpiring. Possessing this skill allows him to anticipate plays and puts him the ideal position to make the correct call. His baseball IQ also enables him to communicate well with players and coaches during the contests and better manage situations as they come up during games.
Mr. Thor has earned both his colleagues and coaches respect both on and off the field. His calm demeanor and patience during games has made him a preferred umpire for many baseball leagues that we assign umpires for in Illinois.
Mr. Thor’s baseball IQ, communication skills, and overall baseball knowledge make him an excellent candidate for any open player/coach position.”
